Terms of service

These terms govern your use of samesermon.com and the Same Sermon service, provided by Same Sermon (“we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you are agreeing on behalf of a church or organization, you confirm that you are authorized to do so, and “you” includes that organization.

1. The service

Same Sermon provides live transcription and AI translation of spoken services, delivered as captions and audio to listeners’ devices, along with related features such as transcripts and caption overlays. We may improve, change or discontinue features over time. If we make a change that significantly reduces what a paid plan includes, we will tell you in advance.

2. Your account

You must give accurate information when you sign up and keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@samesermon.com if you think someone has accessed it without permission.

3. Plans, trials and billing

• Free plan: free of charge, with the limits described on our pricing page.
• Church plan: billed monthly or yearly in advance, through Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
• Usage limits: each plan includes a number of live translation hours per month. When they run out, translation pauses until the next month or until you upgrade. We never charge automatically for extra usage.
• Listeners: there are no per-listener fees on any plan.
• Trials and offers: promotional periods, such as our Christmas offer, give access to the Church plan for a set time without a payment method. If you haven’t added a payment method when the period ends, your account moves to the Free plan and nothing is charged.
• Cancelling: you can cancel at any time from your account. Your paid plan continues until the end of the current billing period and then moves to the Free plan. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.
• Price changes: we will give you at least 30 days’ notice before a price change affects your subscription.

4. Your content

Your sermons, transcripts, word lists and other content belong to you. You give us permission to process that content only as needed to provide the service to you, for example to transcribe, translate, display and store it as described in our privacy policy. We don’t claim ownership of your content, and we don’t use it to train AI models.

You are responsible for having the right to use and translate the content you run through the service, including music, readings and guest speakers.

5. About AI translation

Same Sermon uses artificial intelligence to transcribe and translate speech. AI translation can be inaccurate or incomplete, especially with names, idioms, poor audio or fast speech. The service is provided to help people follow along, and you should not rely on it where precise translation is essential, such as legal, medical or safety information. We encourage you to have a fluent speaker check the translation and to let listeners know it is machine-generated.

6. Acceptable use

Please don’t use Same Sermon to break the law, to harass or harm others, to infringe anyone’s rights, to interfere with the service or other users, to attempt to access systems or data you’re not authorized to, or to resell the service without our permission. We may suspend accounts that do, and will tell you why when we can.

7. Availability

We work hard to keep Same Sermon running during your services, but it depends on internet connections, devices and providers outside our control. We can’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Please keep a backup plan for services where translation is essential.

8. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we stop offering the service, in which case we will give reasonable notice where we can and refund any prepaid amounts for the unused period of a service we discontinue.

9. Disclaimers

Except as expressly stated in these terms, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100 if greater.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is significant, we will update the date at the top of this page and email church account holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
